D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches

In 2014, D’Angelo Grilled Sandwiches partnered with BMC on a very successful joint cause marketing point of sale program with the Boston Bruins Foundation. The four-week program, raised more than $73,000 by asking customers to donate a dollar at the register in support of BMC. BMC also hosted a sweepstakes, open to all D’Angelo patrons, to enter and win exclusive prizes donated by the Boston Bruins Foundation. On February 27, as a thank you to employees and customers, BMC hosted a meet and greet with Bruins forward Daniel Paille at the Woburn D’Angelo location. Dozens of fans attended to take photos and get their Bruins apparel autographed. The program culminated with a check presentation on center ice at a Bruins game in March of 2014.

John Hancock

Over the past few years, the team at John Hancock has embraced Boston Medical Center by generously granting marathon entry numbers—first with 15, then 30 and in 2015, a record-breaking 75 numbers. By providing these numbers, John Hancock has allowed BMC to develop a comprehensive and competitive Team BMC Boston Marathon Program. John Hancock is responsible for helping BMC raise more than $1.2 million over the past 3 years. Thanks to this opportunity, BMC can expect to get that much closer to fulfilling its capital campaign goal, including a world-class, expanded emergency department deserving of BMC’s patients.

The Lincoln Motor Company

The Lincoln Motor Company is one of BMC’s newest corporate partners joining the BMC family in 2014 for an experiential marketing campaign aligned with the mission of exceptional care, without exception. Lincoln’s sponsorship spanned across many events including the Mayo Bowl, the Kids Fund Golf Tournament, the Boston Triathlon and Food for Thought. In addition to sponsoring and displaying their luxury vehicles at these events, Lincoln was onsite at BMC twice during 2014. The first on-site occurred as a part of Team BMC Day to support marathon efforts. The event was a big success with approximately 200 people taking part in the “platinum key promotion”—many of whom won $50 gift cards as they also spurred Lincoln’s support of Team BMC.

Natixis Global Asset Management (NGAM)

Natixis Global Asset Management has created an exciting, innovative model of corporate partnership and participation. Boston Medical Center is among a handful of non-profits directly benefiting from the Natixis employee giving campaign and subsequent company match. The model continues to evolve as Natixis employees and BMC explore and establish opportunities for meaningful participation.

In addition to employee and corporate giving—including Gala, Catwalk, Food For Thought and other sponsorship gifts—Natixis employees have held food and clothing drives, and delivered new, high quality magazines to the delight of BMC’s hematology/oncology outpatients. Dozens of Natixis employees have participated in tour programs to educate themselves about exceptional care, without exception. Most recently, an “In the Know” speaker series was established where BMC physicians and leaders make presentations a few times a year to Natixis employees interested in learning more.

Ocean State Job Lot

Ocean State's relationship with Boston Medical Center began in a most nontraditional way—with 40,000 pounds of chicken! That's how much frozen chicken Marc Perlman, president of Ocean State Job Lot, a leading New England discount retailer, was hoping to give away to a local nonprofit. But because of the quantity, and the refrigeration required, he had no takers until he called Norman Stein, vice president of development at BMC.

A devoted partnership soon blossomed between the Perlmans, Ocean State Job Lot and BMC. Although BMC continues to receive frequent food and clothing deliveries for the Food Pantry and Clothing Bank, these donations are just the tip of the iceberg.

In December 2004, Ocean State Job Lot began selling gift box pinups to benefit the Food Pantry at BMC throughout the holiday season. Since then, the wildly successful point of sale campaign has expanded to include a springtime pin-up program, offering a meal deals coupon book to customers. While operating these two programs, Ocean State Job Lot has raised millions for Boston Medical Center.

In addition to corporate support, the Perlmans have also showed their dedication and friendship to BMC with generous personal donations. Most notably, they made a game-changing million dollar gift in 2006 in support of the Moakley Cancer Care Building, and just recently pledged another million dollar commitment toward the new BMC capital campaign.


Santander Bank has made endless investments in the local community since establishing its corporate headquarters in Boston a few years ago. Due to an expanded Boston Marathon team in 2014, with more than 100 runners, Boston Medical Center sought after supporters of Team BMC who would not only contribute to the team financially, but would also be a partner in developing and growing the program. Santander joined the team in a big way as lead supporter and also opened its branches in Hopkinton and on Arlington Street, welcoming our runners on marathon day, and providing shelter, bathrooms and refreshment. Additionally, Santander supported our runners along the entire route with organized cheering sections at seven branches. We’re excited to welcome Santander’s continued partnership as lead supporter of Team BMC in the 2015 Boston Marathon on April 20, 2015.

Santander continues to find other ways to support BMC and its employees—whether through biweekly on-campus tabling sessions with special promotions and banking advice, or through generous foundation grants funding critical BMC programs.
