Who We Are

Boston Medical Center stands as Boston's indispensable hospital and a national model for excellence in caring for people traditionally underserved. We exist principally to care for any and every person who walks through our doors, and we do so with innovative treatments—many built right at BMC—and unwavering compassion provided by physicians who are leaders in their fields and highly-skilled nursing and professional staff. Striving to achieve the best possible outcome for every patient isn't ancillary to our mission—it is our mission.

Another reason we stand apart is our supporters—thought-leaders from the community dedicated to caring for Boston and its surrounding regions. Because of their commitment to our mission, we are able to meet the complex needs of our patients—needs that often transcend the scope of traditional medicine—by providing programs that are not reimbursable but are essential to their health and well-being. From our trailblazing addiction medicine programs to our hospital-based Food Pantry and Teaching Kitchen, our shared vision allows us to care for our patients—of all ages and walks of life—as a whole and build healthier communities.

Behind every “thank you” and “BMC saved my life” is a legion of BMC staff and supporters, dedicated to transforming lives. For more than 20 years, our donors have stood by our side, helping us lead the charge in our medical and social endeavors so we can change the trajectory of our patients’ lives. Change of this magnitude is only possible when we come together, and we welcome you to join us in our pursuit.
