Winter Walk

On Sunday, February 11, nearly 250 Team BMC walkers participated in the Winter Walk to end homelessness. Together, we raised essential funds to help BMC’s Emergency Medicine teams provide critical patient navigation, connections to mental health resources, and pathways to stable housing—key to patients’ good health.

Winter Walk 2024

Your donations and fundraising make a big impact on the patients and families cared for by BMC’s Emergency Medicine teams. Just a couple of ways Winter Walk funds are supporting unhoused families:

  • Winter Care Packages distributed at the ED to support migrant families new to Boston and winter weather. These included winter clothes, facemasks, formula, bottles, etc.
  • The ED team collaborated with the Community Crisis Stabilization Unit to support new furnishings for common spaces, including a stocked reading nook and coffee corner, as well as a barber’s chair for haircuts, and supplies for birthday parties and celebrations. The Unit provides a place of respite and connections to behavioral health and other care 24/7.

Thank you again, and we hope to see you again at next year’s Winter Walk!

What is Winter Walk?

Winter Walk is an annual 2-mile walk to end homelessness in Greater Boston. In addition to a historic route through downtown Boston, Winter Walk features an inspiring program with firsthand stories from people in Boston experiencing homelessness.

Funds raised through Winter Walk benefit local organizations working to end homelessness, and all Team BMC funds raised directly support BMC’s Emergency Medicine initiatives. Learn more about Winter Walk.

Team BMC at Boston Medical Center participates in charity athletic events around New England while raising funds for critical hospital programs. Learn more about Team BMC.
