Boston Medical Center is proud to have a team of athletes participating in the 129th Boston Marathon® presented by Bank of America in support of our mission. These dedicated Team BMC members choose to make their miles even more meaningful by fundraising for BMC’s efforts to close race-based health inequities and provide innovative services for patients and their families.
Thank you for your interest in joining Team BMC! Our 2025 Boston Marathon team has been filled and applications are now closed. Join our email list to learn about future Team BMC opportunities more ways you can get involved with and Boston Medical Center.
How To Join
We’re not just looking for runners—we are looking for BMC ambassadors who are passionate about our mission. As a Team BMC member, you’ll share BMC with your networks and raise critical funds to support its patients, caregivers, and programs. While the fundraising minimum for accepted 2025 runners is $8,000, 2024 runners raised an average of $10,000.
Our team will review online applications and reach out with next steps. We have a limited number of spots, and athletes are accepted on a rolling basis.
Email Team.BMC@bmc.org if you are a 2025 Boston Marathon® qualifier and already have a bib from the B.A.A. The fundraising minimum for 2025 qualified runners is $1,000 and team members receive all the same resources and incentives.
Your Impact
BMC is not only home to world-class clinicians and innovative treatments—we also are pioneers of programs that impact lasting good health. Over the years, more than 1,100 Team BMC athletes have raised more than $9.5 million to support BMC’s efforts to build a healthier Boston. Funds raised through the Boston Marathon® support our work—much of it not reimbursed by insurance—that drives equitable health outcomes. Here are just a few examples of what philanthropy helps us do:
- Economic Mobility: Wealth = better health outcomes. That’s why BMC created an Economic Justice Hub to offer financial coaching, pathways to jobs, free tax preparation services, and more for families when they come in for appointments.
- Nourishing Our Community: Our hospital-based food pantry, the first-of-its-kind in the nation, distributes more than 1 million pounds of nutritious food to patients and their families each year. BMC’s Teaching Kitchen uses fresh ingredients in our healthy cooking and nutrition classes for our community. Some of the fresh produce used by these programs is grown at our two Rooftop Farms.
- Urgent Health Needs: One in five children and adolescents in MA has a behavioral health condition, but stigma, workforce shortages, and social factors can prevent timely care. To combat the rising mental health crisis, BMC is expanding TEAM UP, an initiative integrating behavioral health into pediatric clinics in community health centers and removing barriers to care for patients in historically marginalized communities.
