Boston Medical Center employee Pearl Kasparian and her husband, Mike, already had many baby supplies for their first child. When they learned they were expecting again, they decided that for their baby “sprinkle,” they would ask guests to donate to BMC instead of bringing gifts.
Pearl set up a fundraising page through BMC’s Community Fundraising program, so her loved ones could easily donate online.

Evelyn, Pearl’s second child, surprised them by arriving two weeks early. While Pearl missed the party, her guests turned the shower into a surprise birthday party honoring Evelyn’s arrival instead. Pearl says, “Our family and friends really enjoyed the opportunity to give back. They liked knowing that their gifts make a difference and are appreciated.”
After a few days in BMC’s neonatal intensive care unit (NICU), a happy and healthy Evelyn went home with mom, dad, and big brother Harris. In Pearl’s experience, “the teams supporting babies, kids, and their families at BMC are all outstanding.”
“It feels great to give back and the process was super easy. I hope our donation will support the programs that make BMC special and will help make other families’ lives a little easier.” —Pearl
As a BMC employee, patient, and supporter, Pearl highly recommends the option to give back to anyone considering it. “It feels great and the process was super easy. I hope our donation will support the programs that make BMC special and will help make other families’ lives a little easier,” Pearl shares.
