Infectious Disease Leader Wins “Extraordinary” Award


Sabrina Assoumou, MD, MPH was recognized in 2022 by The Women’s Edge for the Extraordinary Women Advancing Healthcare award, which honors ten women across Massachusetts for their career achievements, innovation, collaboration, and work to foster diversity in their organizations. Assoumou’s work focuses on improving care for patients with HIV at BMC’s Center for Infectious Diseases, as well as discovering potential medical complications of substance use in patients with HIV and Hepatitis C virus. Assoumou is also an assistant professor of medicine at the Boston University School of Medicine. Assoumou played a lead role in BMC’s innovative COVID vaccination efforts, becoming a trusted voice in the community.
