Walsh named to Modern Healthcare’s 2022 Top 100

Kate Walsh, President and CEO of Boston Medical Center, was recognized as one of Modern Healthcare’s 2022 Top 100 Most Influential People in  Healthcare. To be nominated for this honor, leaders in healthcare are selected by both their peers and senior editors of Modern Healthcare, for leadership and impact. Walsh and others were recognized for their health advocacy efforts as well as workforce development, including advancing diversity, equity and inclusion efforts.

Walsh is an alumna of Yale University, where she received her bachelor of arts degree and a master’s degree in public health. She has served as the President and CEO of Boston Medical Center since 2010, spearheading a number of innovative health equity programs that care for underserved populations in Boston. Walsh has been invited to the White House on numerous occasions to speak with other leaders in the healthcare industry about BMC’s innovative health equity programs. In November of 2022, BMC’s Rooftop Farm, which annually produces over 6,000 pounds of fresh food for BMC’s food insecure patient population, was recognized by the White House as a “model for what other medical centers can do.” Walsh is constantly working to improve access to resources for both the hospital and our underserved patient population to improve outcomes, so Boston can become a healthier, safer, and more equitable place for all.
